FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy and can be used in production of thick-walled forgings from steels of austenitic class used for production of articles of thermal and nuclear power engineering. Molten ingot after complete heating is subjected to homogenisation at temperature of 1,190±20°C with holding for 16 hours. Ingot is subjected to upsetting at temperature of 1,190±20°C. Then, forging operations are performed at temperature not exceeding 1,090±20°C, with cooling of forgings after forging process in water. Forgings are austenised at temperature of 1,025±20°C with holding of 1.2–1.3 min/mm of section with subsequent cooling in water.
EFFECT: result is reduction of grain in metal of forged piece and prevention of cracking.
