FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diagnostic inspection of inner surface of pipe sections with diameter of 1020, 1220 and 1420 mm with outer insulating coating. Summary of invention: section of pipe 7 with external insulating coating is cleaned from inside, scanner-flaw detector 12 with acoustic systems 1 and isolated electronic unit 4 on vehicle 5 is placed in it for diagnostics. Pipe section 7 is insulated with plugs 9, through nozzles 14 is filled with water, measurements and obtained data are processed. Scanner-flaw detector 12 is made with one or two acoustic systems 1, each of which comprises a circular cartridge with ultrasonic transducers, in the characteristic of which the near zone section has a cylindrical shape; converters are fixed uniformly along circumference in one row perpendicular to axis of their rotation. Three embodiments of devices for implementing the method are designed to enable ultrasonic diagnostics of isolated pipe sections on racks and on stationary benches in route conditions.

EFFECT: invention provides a simple method for ultrasonic inspection of insulated pipe sections from the inside.
