SUBSTANCE: distraction apparatus for stretching the bone in treatment of mandibular or maxillary atrophy of the alveolar crest comprises a main body containing an adapter element with at least one connecting platform; a string positioning element configured to be attached to said at least one adapter element, extending along a longitudinal direction perpendicular to the vertical axis of at least one adapter element, and containing positioning means located at a distance from each other along said longitudinal direction. The string tensioning units comprise a string with a first end of the string and a second end of the string attached to the latching element of the string; and a movable element attached to the first end of the string, configured to move in order to contribute to displacement of the latching element of the string in the distal direction. Each string tensioning unit is attached to the main body. Each string is configured to pass through a corresponding, different from the others, positioning tool or along said tool. Disclosed are a distraction system, a method for using the distraction apparatus, and a distraction assembly.
