FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine. Method for sealing an arteriotomy orifice according to the first embodiment involves movement of the closure system through a procedural cannula passing through the arteriotomy. Closure system comprises a handle portion, an adapter for a cannula extending from a portion of the handle, an outer catheter extending from the portion of the handle, an internal catheter passing through the external catheter, a supporting tube located radially between the external catheter and the internal catheter, as well as a sealant located in the distal section of the external catheter. Adapter for cannula comprises fastening structure forming passage. External catheter is removably attached to an internal catheter. Further, the method comprises fastening an adapter for a cannula of a closure system to a procedural cannula by locating a side port or irrigation canal of the procedural cannula in a passage of the attachment structure, as well as retraction of the portion of the handle to retract the procedural cannula and the external catheter relative to the internal catheter so as to leave the sealant open. Closure system for closing the arteriotomy orifice according to the first embodiment comprises a handle portion, an adapter for the cannula, an external catheter extending distally from the portion of the handle, an internal catheter extending through the external catheter, a sealant disposed in a distal section of the external catheter, as well as a support tube proximal to the sealant, radially between the external catheter and the internal catheter. Adapter for cannula comprises fastening structure forming passage, for attachment with possibility of detachment to procedural cannula by location of side port or irrigation canal of procedure cannula in passage of fastening structure. External catheter comprises a proximal section and a distal section. External catheter is axially movable relative to the internal catheter. Closure system for closing the arteriotomy opening according to the second embodiment comprises a handle portion, an external catheter extending from the handle portion, an internal catheter and a sealant. External catheter comprises a proximal section and a distal section. Distal section comprises an inner sleeve and an outer sleeve enveloping the inner sleeve. Inner sleeve comprises first slot. Outer sleeve comprises a second slot shifted circumferentially from the first slit. Internal catheter extends through an external catheter. External catheter is removably attached to an internal catheter. Sealant is located in distal section of external catheter. Support tube is located proximal to the sealant, radially between the external catheter and the internal catheter. Method for sealing an arteriotomy opening according to a second embodiment involves advancing a closure system through a procedural cannula passing through the arteriotomy. Closure system comprises a handle portion, an adapter for a cannula extending from a portion of the handle, an external catheter extending from the portion of the handle, an internal catheter extending through the external catheter, an expanding link located in the distal section of the internal catheter, the first actuator attached to the handle portion, as well as a sealant disposed in the distal section of the external catheter. Adapter for cannula comprises fastening structure forming passage. External catheter is removably attached to an internal catheter. Method also includes attachment with possibility of detachment of cannula adapter of closure system to procedural cannula by arrangement of side port or irrigation channel of procedure cannula in passage of fastening structure and pressing the first actuator to place the sealant within the arteriotomy opening and seal the sealant relative to the vessel wall on the arteriotomy site.
EFFECT: inventions exclude the stage of cannula replacement using a standard procedural cannula in a method for delivering sealant.
