SUBSTANCE: method of detecting a fraudulent letter relating to the category of internal BEC attacks includes steps of: determining the received letter as an internal letter based on analysis of the letter header using a heuristic rule for detecting fraudulent letters relating to the category of internal BEC attacks; extracting message text from internal letter; analysing the extracted text to identify parts of text messages corresponding to conditions indicative of fraud using an internal BEC attack; if at least one heuristic rule matches, the received letter is determined as a fraudulent letter relating to the category of internal BEC attacks, and said letter is blocked.

EFFECT: high level of detection of fraudulent letters related to the category of internal BEC attacks.
