FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing granular active aluminum oxide for cleaning gas mixtures from elemental fluorine and can be used in metallurgical, electrochemical and other processes, accompanied by release of fluorine-containing gas mixtures released into atmosphere. Method involves mechanical activation of aluminum hydroxide, calcination of aluminum hydroxide at temperature of 280–550 °C, treatment with a plasticizer, granules molding, drying and calcination. After final calcination, a surface activator in the form of amine-containing compounds in specific amount of 10-4–10-3 mol/g is additionally deposited on the obtained granular aluminum oxide. Surface activator used is carbamide, hexamethylene diamine, hexamethylenetetramine, disodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid.
EFFECT: providing an increase in the active surface of aluminum oxide for efficient removal of elemental fluorine from fluorine-containing gas mixtures.
