FIELD: medicine; surgery; parasitology.

SUBSTANCE: procedure was performed under general anesthesia in an operating room. The position of the patient on the operating table was determined by the localization of the cyst and the presence of an ultrasound window for a safe trajectory of the puncture needle and subsequently the antenna. The procedure is performed with a microwave ablation machine with a set of antennas. The device consists of a 60 W generator with an oscillation frequency of up to 915 MHz, a peristaltic pump supplying chilled water in a closed loop and an antenna for microwave ablation. Single antennas are used for the procedure. Puncture of the focus is performed under ultrasound guidance. In parallel, drainage was installed in the cyst for partial evacuation of the liquid part of the echinococcal cyst and a microwave antenna. Then the position of the antenna is monitored for precision positioning in the center of the echinococcal cyst. Then the liquid was supplied by the peristaltic pump and the generator began to work. In this case, ultrasound control of the formation of the ablation zone and observation of the surrounding anatomical structures were carried out.

EFFECT: method allows improving the immediate and long-term indicators of treatment of patients with parasitic liver damage, patients with cystic echinococcosis.
