SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video encoding techniques, more specifically to techniques for unblocking recovered video data. Disclosed is a method of filtering recovered video data. Method includes a step of receiving values of samples included in a first block or a second block in reconstructed video data which are adjacent to a deblocking boundary. Further, according to the method, it is determined whether the type of the edge is vertical, as well as whether the width of the first block exceeds a threshold value or is equal to it. Method also includes a step of filtering reconstructed video data to modify sample values included in a first block or a second block, in accordance with at least one of the first gradient value or the second gradient value, and outputting the modified reconstructed video data.
EFFECT: reduction of block artefacts of reconstructed values of video data samples.
