SUBSTANCE: described is a method for treating or preventing a hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in the subject. The method includes introduction of an effective amount of a composition containing a nucleic acid molecule and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein said nucleic acid molecule directly inhibits the expression of the target nucleic acid of poly(A)-polymerase-associated domain-containing protein 5 (PAPD5). In one implementation of the invention, the target nucleic acid comprises a sequence with at least 90% identity of a sequence selected from SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 5, or SEQ ID NO: 10.
EFFECT: invention expands the range of products for treating a hepatitis B virus infection.
