FIELD: vacuum technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a vacuum technology for cleaning the surface and applying hardening coatings on products made of quartz glass, mainly grade KV, this technology can be used in spacecraft in outer space. A method is proposed for restoring a transparent reinforcing inorganic coating of quartz glass of the KV brand on the surface of a quartz glass product used in a spacecraft, carried out under simulated space conditions. To implement the method, the surface of the product is cleaned with a beam of accelerated ions of an inert gas and then a transparent inorganic hardening coating is applied to the cleaned surface of the product by ion-beam sputtering of a target made of KV grade quartz glass with a beam of accelerated ions of the said inert gas. To simulate outer space conditions, cleaning the surface of a quartz glass product and applying a reinforcing inorganic coating is performed in a vacuum at a temperature of the product from -150°C to 150°C.

EFFECT: restoration of optical and strength characteristics of products made of quartz glass in ground conditions, close to the conditions of outer space, is provided.
