SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for prevention and/or reduction of ischemia-related damages. A statin is used to prevent/reduce ischemia-related injury in a subject. A pharmaceutically effective amount of said statin is administered to said subject by intravenous administration after the onset of ischemia, but before reperfusion, and the statin is intended for administration as early as possible after the onset of ischemia.
EFFECT: use of said treatment regimen in the early stages after myocardial ischemia protects the heart by limiting ischemia-related injuries.
