SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicle differentials. In the vehicle limited slip differential control method, determining the current output torque of the engine; determining the position of the accelerator control means; determining the predicted engine torque based on the current output torque of the engine and the position of the accelerator control means; vehicle speed is determined. Preload values to be applied to the differential are also determined. Preload value is based on the predicted engine torque and vehicle speed. Preload is applied to differential when preload is greater than zero.
EFFECT: undesirable differential lock is excluded.
