SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of controlling power supplied to an aerosol generating element of an aerosol generating device, wherein the aerosol generating device comprises a control unit and a battery for supplying power to the aerosol generating element and to the control unit, wherein the method includes steps of: measuring, using a measuring unit, at least one first characteristic of the battery, wherein said first characteristic is temperature or internal resistance of the battery; and deactivation or disconnection of the device, if the measured temperature is less than the minimum temperature or the measured internal resistance of the battery is greater than the maximum internal resistance.
