FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for removing ethylene from a hydrocarbon stream, including ethylene, ethane and heavier hydrocarbons, including: (a) absorption of carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and carbonyl sulfide from a hydrocarbon stream by contact with a solvent to obtain an absorbed hydrocarbon stream; (b) selective hydrogenation of acetylene in an absorbed hydrocarbon stream to ethylene with formation of a hydrogenated hydrocarbon stream; and (c) adsorption from a hydrogenated hydrocarbon stream of water, mercury, ammonia and/or mercaptan, methanol and/or hydrogen cyanide in the first adsorption module and arsine in the second adsorption module to form an adsorbed hydrocarbon stream containing ethylene and no more than about 15 parts per billion of arsine.
EFFECT: expansion of the range of solutions for extracting ethylene.
