FIELD: regulating.
SUBSTANCE: use: invention relates to the field of means for preventing collisions of vehicles. Substance: presented is a method for increasing the detection distance for the surface of an object illuminated by near-IR electromagnetic emission, including: (a) directing near-IR electromagnetic emission of the source of near-IR electromagnetic emission on an object at least partially coated with a near-IR-reflective coating increasing the detection distance to the object detected by near-IR electromagnetic emission by at least about 15% when measured at a near-IR wavelength, compared to the same object coated with a matching colour absorbing more of the same near-IR emission, wherein the coating of the matching colour has a colour difference value ΔE of 1.5 or less compared with the near-IR-reflective coating; and (b) detecting the near-IR electromagnetic emission reflected from said near-IR-reflective coating. Also proposed is a vehicle proximity detection system.
EFFECT: increase in the detection distance to the surface of an object illuminated by near-infrared electromagnetic emission.
