SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video signal processing, in particular to the technology of configuring a combination of transformations based on at least one of the prediction mode, size or shape of a block. Disclosed is a method of decoding a video signal based on adaptive multiple transforms (AMT), comprising stages at which the AMT index is obtained from the video signal, while the AMT index indicates any of a plurality of transformations combinations in a transform configuration group, and the transformation configuration group includes discrete sine transform of type 7 (DST-7) and cosine transform of type 8 (DCT-8); as well as retrieving a combination of transformations corresponding to the AMT index. Combination of transformations consists of horizontal and vertical transformations and includes at least one of DST-7 or DCT-8; inverse transformation is performed on the current block based on the combination of transformations and the video signal is reconstructed using the current block subjected to inverse transformation. AMT is a transformation scheme, which is performed based on a combination of transformations, adaptively selected from a plurality of combinations of transformations, and matrix for inverse transformation is extracted based on type of transformation combination and size of transformation unit is 32 or less.
EFFECT: high efficiency and complexity of encoding/decoding.
