FIELD: video signal processing.

SUBSTANCE: method for configuring a compounding based on at least one of the prediction mode, block size or shape. A method for encoding a video signal is proposed, it consists of the following stages: extracting a compounding applied to a transform unit, where the compounding is configured with horizontal and vertical transformation (DST-7 and/or DCT-8); performing a transformation on the transform unit based on the compounding; and determining one transform pattern group from a plurality of transform pattern groups based on the prediction mode, each of the plurality of transform pattern groups including a plurality of compounding; generating a transformation index corresponding to the compounding. The transformation index indicates one of a plurality of compounding from one transform configuration group from a plurality of transformation configuration groups; is one transformation index corresponding to the first index value for horizontal transformation and the second index value for vertical transformation; consists of the values 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, where the first and second index values are determined based on the transform index and one transform configuration group.

EFFECT: increasing the efficiency and complexity of coding/decoding.
