SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to veterinary medicine and concerns an in vitro method for detecting intestinal barrier insufficiency in birds, while the method provides for following stages: selection of intestinal sample material from an individual bird or bird population, and determination of the amount of at least one protein marker contained in the specified sample material, where at least one protein marker contains or consists of a functional fragment of ovotransferrin, and where the increased amount of at least one protein marker contained in the specified sample, when compared with a reference sample, indicates the intestinal barrier insufficiency. The group of inventions also concerns the use of functional fragments of ovotransferrin as intestinal markers for detecting intestinal barrier insufficiency in a bird or in a bird population, and a method for in vitro control of the state of the intestinal barrier in birds.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides in vitro detection of intestinal barrier insufficiency in birds.
