SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of experimental physics, investigating the behavior of substances under the influence of strong shock waves. The device for magnetic acceleration of flat impactors contains a pulsed energy source, a transmission line consisting of cylindrical inner and outer conductors having a flat cut at an angle to the axis of the device with a thin insulator in the gap between them, an acceleration unit at the end of the transmission line conductors, including a straight current duct and reverse conductor width h, a flat striker, which is part of the return conductor, and insulation between the conductors, which is a continuation of the insulation of the transmission line, while the device additionally contains a second flat striker, which is part of the direct conductor and also of width h, the surfaces of the current conductors with strikers adjacent to the insulation are flat.

EFFECT: creating a uniform magnetic field inside the acceleration unit with maximum strength when using impactors with large surface areas (several tens of cm2).
