FIELD: smoking devices.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to electrical aerosol-generating systems. In particular, the invention relates to electrical aerosol-generating systems containing an aerosol-generating apparatus and a charging unit. The invention also relates to electrical connectors for electrical aerosol-generating systems. Electrical aerosol-generating system (100), electrical aerosol-generating apparatus (101), and a charging unit (103) for an electrical aerosol-generating system (100). Aerosol-generating system (100) comprises an aerosol-generating apparatus (101), a charging unit (103) configured to accommodate the aerosol-generating apparatus (101), and a first part (40) of the connector and a second part (50) of the connector. The aerosol-generating apparatus (101) has the first part (40) of the connector, and the charging unit (103) has the second part (50) of the connector. The first part (40) of the connector comprises: a first electrical contact (43); a second electrical contact (44) at least partially surrounding the first electrical contact (43); and a third electrical contact (45) at least partially surrounding the first electrical contact (43). The second part (50) of the connector comprises: a first electrical contact (53); a second electrical contact (54) located at a distance radially outward relative to the first electrical contact (53); and a third electrical contact (55) located at a distance radially outward relative to the first electrical contact (53). The first and the second parts (40, 50) of the connector are arranged so that the first and the second parts (40, 50) of the connector are electrically coupled when the aerosol-generating apparatus (101) is placed in the charging unit (103). The electrical contacts of the first and the second parts (40, 50) of the connector are arranged so that, when the first and second parts of the connector are electrically coupled: the first electrical contact (43) of the first part (40) of the connector is electrically coupled with the first electrical contact (53) of the second part (50) of the connector; the second electrical contact (44) of the first part (40) of the connector is electrically coupled with one of the second electrical contact (54) and the third electrical contact (55) of the second part (50) of the connector; and the third electrical contact (45) of the first part (40) of the connector is electrically coupled with the other of the second electrical contact (54) and the third electrical contact (55) of the second part (50) of the connector, regardless of the angular position of the second part (50) of the connector relative to the first part (40) of the connector.

EFFECT: improved speed and ease for the user electrically connecting the aerosol-generating apparatus and the charging unit, as well as provided electrical connector for the aerosol-generating electrical system, providing an electrical connection between the aerosol-generating apparatus and the charging unit at any angular position.
