SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a hair styling device, for example for small perm, large perm, permanent perm and straightening. In the hair styling device containing a heat source for heating hair due to the conductivity by means of a direct contact between a surface of contact of hair and heat source and hair, and an optical radiation source for heating, in combination with heat from the heat source, of hair to a temperature high enough for performing hair styling due to the absorption of optical radiation by hair, the heat source obtains heat from the energy provided by the optical radiation heat and, in preferable option of the invention implementation, only from the optical radiation source. The heat source can preferably include a heat bridge connected to a heat absorber of the optical radiation source, wherein the heat bridge has a surface of contact with hair for heating hair. The optical radiation source can preferably be closed with a cover that is not fully transparent, as a result of which the energy of optical radiation is converted into thermal energy, wherein the heat source includes a cover with a surface of contact with hair for heating hair. The cover can preferably be transparent to a large extent for wavelengths effective for hair styling and largely non-transparent for wavelengths less effective for hair styling. The optical radiation source can preferably be closed with a cover that is heated by the heat source.
