FIELD: tracking systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to bridge cranes moving along a rail track, in particular to a system and a method for automatic determination of a position of a bridge crane along a path of movement. Unique identifiers are placed along the path of movement of the bridge crane, one or more image capture devices are placed on the bridge crane, images of unique identifiers are received using one or more image capture devices during the movement of the bridge crane along the path, coordinates of one or more image capture devices are linked to an external reference frame, information about current positions of unique identifiers in the external reference frame is received, unique identifiers are recognized in received images, and for each recognized unique identifier in the current frame, information is received about a position of each unique identifier in an image, the current position of the bridge crane in the external reference frame is determined based on received information about the position of each unique identifier in the current frame, information about current positions of unique identifiers in the external reference frame and linking coordinates of one or more image capture devices to the external reference frame.
EFFECT: ensuring automatic determination of the current position of the bridge crane along the path of movement during operation using unique identifiers.
