FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to an electric voltage-gated dimming screen used with insulating glass units, to an insulating glass unit including such a dimming screen, and to associated methods. The insulating glass unit comprises a first and a second substrates, each with an internal and an external main surfaces, wherein the internal main surface of the first substrate faces the internal main surface of the second substrate; a dividing system which helps retain the first and second substrates parallel and at a distance from each other and forms a gap between the substrates; and a dynamically controlled dimming screen located between the first and second substrates. The dimming screen includes: a first conductive film located directly or indirectly on the internal main surface of the first substrate; a dielectric or insulating film located directly or indirectly on the first conductive film; and a curtain including a polymer material whereto a second conductive film is applied. The polymer material is configured to be extended to perform the function of the closed position of the curtain and retracted to perform the function of the open position of the curtain. The upper surface of the second conductive film is made rough and/or textured in order to help reduce the total reflection from the curtain and/or contribute to diffuse reflection, wherein the upper surface of the second conductive film faces away from the polymer material.
EFFECT: provided improved insulation of buildings.
