FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: insulating glass unit with an electric voltage-gated dimming screen (202a, 202b) and associated methods. In such an insulating glass unit, a dynamically controlled dimming screen (202a, 202b) is placed between two substrates (102, 104) forming the insulating glass unit, configured to be moved between the retracted and extended positions. The dynamic dimming screen (202a, 202b) includes layers (304) applied to the glass, including a transparent conductor (306) and an insulating (308) or dielectric film, as well as a curtain (312). The curtain includes an elastic polymer (402), a conductor (404) and, optionally, paint (406). Holes (502) invisible to the naked eye can be made in the polymer. If the conductor is reflective, external layers may be provided in order to reduce internal reflection. The polymer can sustain high temperature conditions and, in certain cases, be painted. The dimming screen includes a sunlight collector (CIGS) and conductive coatings.

EFFECT: electric voltage-gated dimming screen for use in an insulating glass unit.
