SUBSTANCE: some examples of implementation relate to electric voltage-gated dimming screens used with insulating glass units, to insulating glass units including such dimming screens, and/or associated methods. In such an insulating glass unit, a dynamically controlled dimming screen is placed between two substrates forming the insulating glass unit, configured to be moved between the retracted and extended positions. The dynamic dimming screen includes layers applied to the glass, including a transparent conductor and an insulating or dielectric film, as well as a gate. The gate includes an elastic polymer, a conductor and, optionally, paint. If the conductor is reflective, external layers can be provided in order to reduce internal reflection. The polymer can sustain high temperature conditions and, in certain cases, be painted. The surface of the polymer can be modified, e.g., in order to contribute to diffuse reflection, total internal reflection, etc.
