FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: some examples of implementation relate to electric voltage-gated dimming screens used with insulating glass units, to insulating glass units including such dimming screens, and/or associated methods. In such an insulating glass unit, a dynamically controlled dimming screen is placed between two substrates forming the insulating glass unit, configured to be moved between the retracted and extended positions. The dynamic dimming screen includes layers applied to the glass, including a transparent conductor and an insulating or dielectric film, as well as a gate. The gate includes an elastic polymer, a conductor and, optionally, paint. The polymer can sustain high temperature conditions and, in certain cases, be painted.

EFFECT: selection of material and/or processing helps increase the strength of the roll.
