SUBSTANCE: some examples of implementation relate to electric voltage-gated dimming screens used with insulating glass units, to insulating glass units including such dimming screens, and/or associated methods. In such an insulating glass unit, a dynamically controlled dimming screen is placed between two substrates forming the insulating glass unit, configured to be moved between the retracted and extended positions. The dynamic dimming screen includes layers applied to the glass, including a transparent conductor and an insulating or dielectric film, as well as a gate. The gate includes an elastic polymer, a conductor and, optionally, paint. Holes invisible to the naked eye can be made in the polymer. Said holes can have a size, shape and location contributing to the reflection of solar energy during the summer and the transmission of solar energy during the winter. The conductor can be transparent or opaque. If the conductor is reflective, external layers can be provided in order to reduce internal reflection. The polymer can sustain high temperature conditions and, in certain cases, be painted.
EFFECT: creation of an insulating glass unit equipped with an electric voltage-gated dimming screen.
