FIELD: welding technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in underwater mechanized and automatic wet welding, as well as arc cutting of metal structures directly in fresh and seawater. On the surface of the parts along the welding or cutting axis, a waterproof tape with an activating flux is fixed, along which welding or cutting with a powder wire is carried out. The tape contains a polymer or metal foil shell with an activating flux layer placed inside it, containing components in the following ratio, wt. %: complex alkali metal fluoride 15-45, alkaline earth metal fluoride 40-80, polytetrafluoroethylene 5-15.

EFFECT: increase in the depth of penetration while improving the quality of welding or cutting by increasing the penetrating ability of the arc, binding hydrogen with fluorine and fluorides, as well as isolating the welding bath and the cutting channel with liquid slag formed during the melting of the flux tape.
