FIELD: heat engineering.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates in general to heat-exchanging media and, in some embodiments, to heat-exchanging media for inhibiting corrosion in heat exchange systems. Concentrates of a heat exchange medium include: a freezing point lowering agent, water or a combination thereof, organophosphate of the formula:

where substituents R1, R2 and R3, each independently, is a hydrogen atom, optionally substituted alkyl containing a heteroatom, optionally substituted alkenyl containing a heteroatom, optionally substituted carbonyl-containing alkyl, optionally substituted carbonyl-containing alkenyl, or optionally substituted residue selected from a group including alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, phosphono-, phosphino-, alkylamino-group, amino group and combinations thereof; carboxylic acid or its salt, alkaline earth metal ion, water-soluble polymer and a component selected from a group including alkaline metal ion, transition metal ion, inorganic phosphate, molybdenum ion, nitrate ion, nitrite ion, an azole compound, a corrosion inhibitor of copper and copper alloy, silicate, a silicate stabilizer and combinations thereof. The heat exchange medium is free of borate. Organophosphate is not monoethylhexyl phosphate. Ready-to-use heat-exchanging media and methods for the prevention of corrosion in heat exchange systems are also described.

EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to provide long-term, year-round protection of a cooling system, metal corrosion protection of the entire cooling system, efficient heat transfer to control and maintain engine temperature for efficient fuel economy and lubrication, and prevents engine failure due to freezing, boiling or overheating.
