FIELD: measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technique of measuring vacuum and can be used in the creation of vacuum meters with measurement limits from 10-7 to 760 mm Hg when using a single gauge head. A gauge head in the form of a cylindrical magnetron is proposed, containing axially and sequentially arranged first end electrode in the form of a disk, a central electrode in the form of a cylinder of a smaller diameter than the end electrode, a second end electrode in the form of a disk, an air-resistant photocathode located on the central electrode, a cylindrical anode with a hole for transmitting ultraviolet radiation, covering the end electrodes and a cylindrical electrode, and a cylindrical magnet covering the electrodes, creating an axial magnetic field with an induction much greater than the critical one. In the plane of the disk of the first end electrode, there are a photocathode resistant to air and at least three electron collectors electrically isolated from it and from each other, and the second end electrode is electrically isolated from the first end electrode and has an opening opposite the photocathode, closed with a metal mesh, for transmitting ultraviolet radiation to the photocathode.
EFFECT: expanding the range of measured pressures into the high vacuum region and reducing the error of measuring gas pressure.
