FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering and can be used in manufacturing bulk samples based on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) for operation in the mode of abrasive or impact-abrasive wear. UHMWPE powder is poured into a matrix in parts, transverse and longitudinal reinforcing non-stretching inserts in the form of fibres made of glass, carbon or aramid, or metal elements in the form of metal strips or rods are laid between said parts, forming a reinforcing frame. After pouring, each part of the UHMWPE powder is pre-compacted, the matrix is heated to a temperature of 120 to 140°C, and cyclic impact pressing is performed with a specific pressure within 100 to 120 MPa for 3 to 6 minutes in order to remove air, producing a polymer sample. The matrix is then cooled at a constant pressure of 60 to 80 MPa to a temperature not greater than 60°C, and the sample is removed therefrom.
EFFECT: increase in the mechanical strength without losses in technical characteristics, increase in the abrasive resistance, and increase in the life of articles operating in extreme operating conditions.
