FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to oncology, and is intended for predicting an unfavorable outcome of colon and rectosigmoid cancer. Before the operation, the level of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) is examined. In the tissue of the removed tumor, the percentage of tumor cells expressing the stem marker CD44 is determined by immunohistochemical analysis. Using a logistic regression model, the coefficient of predicting a lethal outcome is calculated using the formula K = exp(z)/(1+exp(z)). With a value of K < 0.411, a high risk of death is predicted. At K < 0.411, a low risk of death is predicted.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to accurately and informatively predict the risk of death from colon and rectosigmoid cancer.
