FIELD: car industry.
SUBSTANCE: three-way catalyst (TWC) in an exhaust system is proposed for internal combustion engines for purifying exhaust gas. The catalyst contains: substrate and a catalytic area on substrate; wherein the catalytic area contains the first component of platinum group metal (PGM), an oxygen-storage capacity (hereinafter – OSC) material, rear earth metal oxide and inorganic oxide. In this case, OSC is selected from a group consisting of cerium oxide, mixed cerium-zirconium oxide and mixed aluminum-cerium-zirconium oxide. Inorganic oxide is alumina, lanthanide-stabilized alumina or composite magnesium/aluminum oxide. Rear earth metal oxide is Pr6O11, Nd2O3, Y2O3 or a mixture thereof, and it is present in the amount of 2-20% per the weight of OSC material. In this case, an average diameter (d50) of particles of rear earth metal oxide is more than 4 mcm.
EFFECT: catalyst has improved thermal stability.
