FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used to combat biological fouling. System (200) for combating biological fouling contains: waveguide element (1210) containing radiation output window (230); optical sensor (310) capable of detecting intensity (I) of internal reflection of internal reflected radiation (221); as well as control system (300) functionally connected to the optical sensor. Waveguide element (1210) is made with the possibility of reception of radiation (221), which at least contains ultraviolet radiation, and emission of at least part of it to the outside of waveguide element (1210) through radiation output window (230), as well as with the possibility of internal reflection of part of radiation (221) on radiation output window (230). Control system (300) is made with the possibility of reduction in the intensity of radiation (221) depending on the achievement of a given first threshold value of reduction in intensity (I) of internal reflection over time. The group of inventions also relates to various objects containing the specified system, a method for controlling the output of radiation from a waveguide element and the use of the specified system for combating biofouling.
EFFECT: safety and efficiency of preventing or reducing biological fouling on surfaces are improved.
