SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for producing modified polytetrafluorethylene, a method for producing powder of modified polytetrafluorethylene, and a method for producing stretched porous material. The method for producing modified polytetrafluorethylene includes polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene in an aqueous medium, in which polymer is present, containing links based on monomer that does not contain fluor. Monomer that does not contain fluor is a compound of the formula: CH₂=CR¹-L-R², in which R¹ is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, L is a single bond, -CO-O-* or -O-CO-*, where “*” is a position of binding with R², and R² is an alkyl or nitrile group. Polymer fraction relatively to the total amount of tetrafluoroethylene, which goes to the polymerization system, is from 0.001 to 0.050 wt.%.
