FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to radionuclide diagnostics, and can be used for examining patients with suspected inflammation in the wall of the ascending aorta with aneurysmal dilation. Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) of the mediastinum and X-ray computed tomography (CT) of the chest cavity are performed. The scintigraphic and X-ray images are combined by applying radioisotope and radiopaque labels. The intensity of accumulation of the radiopharmaceutical agent (RPA) in the areas of interest is visually assessed. SPECT is therein performed twice 3 and 6 hours after introducing the RPA. The background of the image of SPECT performed 6 hours after introducing the RPA is then subtracted from the background of the image of SPECT performed 3 hours after introducing the RPA by means of the Load to New software application of the Advantage Workstation 4.6, GE workstation. The resulting image is then combined with the CT image.
EFFECT: elimination of artifacts from the intravascular radioactive blood pool and bone elements of the chest cavity, and reduction of the time of examination due to the subtraction of the backgrounds of SPECT images.
