FIELD: vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to traffic control devices for the purpose of recording or regulating traffic using vehicle identification. A method for identifying vehicles on an automobile highway provides for probing with an electromagnetic signal of one fixed frequency of a vehicle moving along the highway, receiving a signal reflected from the probed object, converting the received electromagnetic signal containing information about the controlled object, and isolating a vehicle identification number from this received signal. At the same time, at least two passive radio tags fixed on inner surfaces of the windshield and trunk lid glass of two objects controlled on the highway are simultaneously affected by two electromagnetic signals of different fixed frequencies, modulated signals reflected from passive radio tags are received, frequency separation and demodulation of received signals are performed, and after processing these information signals, vehicle identification numbers are received.
EFFECT: timely identification of two or more vehicles moving along the highway is achieved.
