SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for encoding and decoding video data and, in particular, relates to methods for internal prediction using the cross component of a linear model (CCLM). The result is achieved by determining two pairs of brightness and chromaticity values in accordance with N restored adjacent brightness samples and N restored adjacent chromaticity samples corresponding to the N restored adjacent brightness samples, and M restored adjacent brightness samples and M restored adjacent chromaticity samples corresponding to the M restored adjacent brightness samples. The minimum value of the N restored adjacent brightness samples is not less than the brightness value of the remaining restored adjacent brightness samples of the set of restored adjacent brightness samples. The maximum value of the M restored adjacent brightness samples is not greater than the brightness value of the remaining restored adjacent brightness samples of the set of restored adjacent brightness samples. M and N are positive integers greater than 1. One or multiple parameters of the linear model are determined based on the two pairs of brightness and chromaticity values, and the prediction block is determined based on one or multiple parameters of the linear model.
