FIELD: telemetry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the modeling of electromagnetic telemetry signals in inclined wells. A method for the modeling of an electromagnetic (hereinafter – EM) telemetry signal includes rectification of a well in a model; separation of the well into many segments; determination of the electric current strength in one or more segments, when the well is rectified; replacement of the well with equivalent electrical sources, at least partially based on the electric current strength in one or more segments; bending of the well back to its original shape in the model; determination of the electric current strength in one or more segments by projection, when the well is returned to its original shape; summation of EM fields of each of one or more segments, at least partially based on the electric current strength in one or more segments, when the well is returned to its original shape, to assess the EM telemetry signal. A computing system for modeling of an electromagnetic telemetry signal is also claimed.

EFFECT: increase in the quality of modeling of an electromagnetic telemetry signal.
