FIELD: hydrometallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrometallurgy and can be used to purify acidic solutions of various composition from iron(III) ions. A method is proposed for purifying acidic aqueous solutions from iron, which includes introducing sulfate ions into the initial solution containing iron(III) ions to the ratio of the mass concentration of iron(III) ions to the mass concentration of sulfate ions equal to 0.08-3.12, while the pH value of the initial solution is equal to 2.5 ≤ pH ≤ 3.5 or, if necessary, the pH value of the initial solution is adjusted to a value of 2.5 ≤ pH ≤ 3.5 by adding alkali metal hydroxide while constantly monitoring the pH. Then the solution is kept at room temperature with constant stirring for at least 4 hours and the resulting precipitate is separated. Water-soluble metal sulfates were used as the sulfate ion-containing compound.
EFFECT: proposed method is a technologically simple method for purifying acidic aqueous solutions from iron (III), providing a high degree of purification while maintaining the pH values of the acidic medium.
