FIELD: weapons.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of testing armour protection means of personnel from impact of small-arms bullets; in particular, in field firing tests in the course of assessment of the results of high-speed pulse interaction of the "firing pin - armour plate" system. The method for comparative assessment of bullet resistance of armour plates is implemented in two stages. The first stage, where various indicators are determined by firing bullets from small arms into the armour plate at right angle: the amount of qualified penetrations of the armour plate being tested at preset firing range and starting velocity of bullets; the experimental value of the limit of qualified damage to the armour plate; the viability of the armour plate upon multiple shock impacts per unit surface area. The second stage consists in determining the integral criterion of the quality of the armour plate as the average bullet braking velocity and the probabilistic indicator as the probability of fault-free operation of the armour plate.
EFFECT: comparative assessment of bullet resistance of armour plates based on the increase in the accuracy and objectivity of assessment of the results of high-speed pulse interaction of the "firing pin - armour plate" system due to the additionally determined parameters being accounted for.
