FIELD: biodegradable polymer production.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a process for producing a high molecular weight biodegradable polymer. The method for the polymerization of lactide and glycolide includes a stage of polymerization with stirring at a temperature of 130-160°C in the presence of an aromatic hydrocarbon and a tin-based catalyst. The polymerization is carried out in a sealed system that does not allow air or other gas exchange between its interior and exterior. The system is a vial capable of withstanding autoclaving. The polymerization is stopped by rapid cooling after 10-24 hours.

EFFECT: development of a method for producing biodegradable polymers that solves technical problems: lack of mixing and homogeneity, curing during the reaction, poor heat transfer and thermal control. Also, this method eliminates disadvantages such as longer reaction time and low molecular weight.
