SUBSTANCE: invention relates to augmented reality devices, namely to augmented reality glasses, and to methods of their functioning. The device for displaying augmented reality contains a projection system, an optical compensator located behind the projection system, a flexible waveguide. A flexible waveguide can change its curvature and contains an input diffraction grating, an output diffraction grating. The optical compensator is configured to introduce image pre-distortion and optical magnification of the image received from the projection system, and the image pre-distortion and optical image magnification are opposite to those that would be introduced by a flexible waveguide into an undistorted image in accordance with the selected radius of curvature of the flexible waveguide. A flexible diffraction grating distorts the predistorted image. The undistorted image is output by the output grating to the user's eyes.

EFFECT: invention provides improved image quality and the ability to adjust the device by the user.
