FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of oil and gas industry, in particular to the field of determining the position of the oil-water contact. The proposed method for drilling a well through an oil- or gas-saturated rock outside the area of contact with a rock saturated with a non-target fluid includes drilling a well and examining drill cuttings samples. At the same time, in the obtained samples of drill cuttings, the composition of microorganisms characteristic of a water-saturated environment, as well as traces of microorganisms characteristic of an oil- or gas-saturated environment, is determined, and with a decrease in the number of traces of microorganisms characteristic of the target fluid, and an increase in the fluid, in the rock as the drilling tool advances, the direction of the subsequent drilling of the wellbore is corrected for the maximum degree of passage of the well trajectory in the rock saturated with the target fluid.
EFFECT: improving the efficiency of field development by increasing the contact of the wellbore with oil- or gas-saturated rock.
