FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine contains case (1), movable cylinder (2) and working piston. Movable cylinder (2) has head (3) and is placed in case (1) with the possibility of reciprocating movement. Working piston (6) with bottom (7) is placed in a working cavity of movable cylinder (2) with the possibility of reciprocating movement towards head (3). Head (3) of movable cylinder (2) is equipped with at least one additional cylinder (8), a cavity of which is connected to the working cavity of movable cylinder (2). Geometric axis (9) of additional cylinder (8) is at least parallel to the direction of reciprocating movement of movable cylinder (2). The cavity of additional cylinder (8) is made with a diameter smaller than the diameter of working piston (6). In the cavity of additional cylinder (8), there is cylindrical protrusion (12) with a bottom, connected to case (1) with the possibility of formation of combustion chamber (14) in the cavity of additional cylinder (8) before the combustion process. Combustion chamber (14) has the possibility of reduction in its volume in the extreme position of head (3) of movable cylinder (2) at the end of the expansion process.
EFFECT: improvement of the purification of the combustion chamber from exhaust gases.
