SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for entropy coding and decoding of a video signal. Residual samples are generated for the video signal. Coding unit is divided into a plurality of conversion units. Based on the fact that the encoding unit is divided into a plurality of conversion units, a limited area in the encoding unit is determined based on the width and height of the conversion unit. Last non-zero conversion coefficient is located in a limited area within the conversion unit. First information on the position of the last non-zero conversion coefficient is generated within the limited area. Conversion unit is encoded based on the position of the last non-zero conversion coefficient. First information is binarized based on the truncated unary code selected within the limited area.
EFFECT: improvement of coding efficiency.
