A method is proposed, consisting in the fact that a horizontal laser beam is directed into the culture mattress through the side surface. At the same time, the culture mattress is placed on a panel with vertical holes located along the laser beam at the same distance from each other, through which the light scattered by the medium with cells enters the board with photodiodes according to the number of panel holes for receiving side light scattering signals, and according to the dependence the side scatter signal from the distance along the laser beam, the cell concentration is estimated. The method is implemented by a device that includes a laser for generating radiation, a plate for placing a culture mattress, a board with photodiodes connected to an amplifier connected to the analog inputs of a microcontroller that digitizes the signal from the amplifier and controls the device and transmits data to the user.

EFFECT: invention is used for non-contact assessment of the concentration of cells during the growth of cultures in an incubator.
