SUBSTANCE: invention relates to magnetic resonance imaging. The essence of the invention lies in the fact that the basic static permanent magnetic field of high induction is applied to the object of study, the launch of a diagnostic pulse sequence of the transmission mode of radio frequency and gradient magnetic fields with the detuning of the metasurface by shifting its natural frequencies from the operating frequency of the magnetic resonance tomograph and alternating with the transmission mode, the receiving mode of the response magnetic resonance signal from the object under study with the effect of this signal on the metasurface, focusing it on a “birdcage” type coil, amplification, digitization, detection, filling of the k-space matrix and its subsequent reconstruction to obtain a magnetic resonance image, while before installing the metasurface in a magnetic resonance tomograph, its complex impedance is determined by applying a stepwise increasing voltage of as small a value as possible and optimal voltage values are determined for fine-tuning the metasurface for each of its modes.

EFFECT: an increase in the signal-to-noise ratio, as well as providing the possibility of reducing the scanning time and improving the image quality of the object under study.
