Method comprises the following stages: providing an electronic counterfeit protection liability insurance policy for the product; encoding the insurance policy; attaching the code to the insurance policy identifier; placing the identifier on the product; and appropriately storing the electronic insurance policy, information on counterfeit protection, and the number of the insurance policy in the database of the insurance policy requirement system.
