SUBSTANCE: invention relates to glass fibers, which can be used for the manufacture of wind blades and aerospace structures. A glass composition contains: SiO2 in the amount from 55.0 to 60.4 wt.%; Al2O3 in the amount from 19.0 to 25.0 wt.%; CaO in the amount from 7 to 12.0 wt.%; MgO in the amount from 8.0 to 15.0 wt.%; Na2O in the amount from 0 to 1.0 wt.%; Li2O in the amount of less than 0.5 wt.%, and TiO2 in the amount from 0.0 to 1.5 wt.%. In this case, amounts are expressed in weight percent relatively to the total weight of the composition, wherein the combined amount of SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, and CaO is at least 98 wt.% and less than 99.5 wt.%, and the composition includes less than 0.2 wt.% of B2O3, and the weight percent ratio of Al2O3/MgO is no more than 1.8, while the specified glass composition has a fiber-formation temperature of no more than 2500°F, and a liquidus temperature of no more than 2305°F.
EFFECT: increase in mechanical and physical properties, strength, and rigidity, while saving fiber-formation properties.
